New Canadian Politics Thread

So with the US… how much of the bubble is the Magnificent 7? Outsized impact on the index, for sure - but what of the other 493 who will be integrating more tech in their processes? Conflicted… 🫤

The con folks I know are the hardcore rural types who are full on team PP.

They get BIG mad when I tell them he’s a career politician with less experience outside politics than “the drama teacher” had.
yah all my con friends are true blue cons but definitely not Trumpers. wonder if that is the difference...

I'm of the personal opinion that "tech integration" is code for "Replacing people who are good at their jobs for AI that isn't good at replacing them because OpenAI enterprise licenses will save us 7% this quarter" and that over the medium term it's going to be a value destroyer, not value creator.

Yeah, we have a smash and grab Dunning Kruger administration, so the C suites will follow suit, cash in, check out and hand the wreckage to the next gen.

I tell ya, the thing that irks me is all the cuts to basic science orgs (like NIH) and unis. It’s this basic science that underpins so much of US productivity and innovation. This does not portend well…

and so much of the world relies upon what is done in America. or, relied upon...

Sorta...

There is a dividing line I refuse to shut up about between Ontario conservatives and Alberta conservatives. The conservative overton window has shifted a bit with Ontario conservatives basically taking over the old mainstream conservative spot, and Alberta/Prairie conservatives moving into full wingnut territory.

But it's not our daddy's dividing line anymore, fer sure.
