New Canadian Politics Thread

From the beginning I thought it would come down to whether the Bloc can regain a lot of lost ground in QC. It looks like things are shifting, but unclear whether there is enough time left. Anecdotally, I know a few loyal Bloc voters who are holding their noses and voting Liberal for the first time ever just to keep PP out of power, but if history is a guide, you don’t want to be on the wrong side of a momentum shift in Quebec.

NDP regaining votes would be more about the strength of local candidates and perhaps a perception that Carney is going to run away with it so it’s safe to vote NDP. If it gets any closer, some of those votes might shift back red.

Traditionally, how is the LPC/BQ alignment on policies? Over the decades I haven't really paid attention to them. BQ will have Quebec centric policies sure but are they left center party? Right?

The Bloc is traditionally a left-of-centre party, so there is some alignment with the LPC.

But it’d be a pretty crappy, nigh-unworkable situation if the government of Canada is wholly dependent on a party that only votes in favour of measures that are good for one particular province.

It's way way more likely that mainstreets poll result sucks. For me the more powerful bit was just how much the Cons had to win by, just to still lose the election. there's very, very littler chance its CPC +4 right now, but even or CPC+1 is a remote but possibleish outcome. Even would still probably be a liberal majority
