No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Mirtle was tweeting about this Sean Walker dude too. Though I have no interest in the Leafs adding that kind of player.

No more McCabe deals where we acquire a mystery box from a shit team that **might** be able to hang in the top-4 of a good team. Get someone like Muzzin (when we acquired him) with a legit track record that demonstrates they’ll be able to anchor our second pairing, or don’t bother and just roll with what we’ve got in-house.

Friedman keeps phrasing that way and it's so weird.

It has nothing to do with Toronto "needing retention" to add Zadorov. They just didn't want Zadorov at his full caphit.

Vancouver wanted to spend all their capspace on Zadorov. That's their choice. The Leafs did not.

Gotta push the cap hell narrative.

The warning sign on Walker is that he couldn't hack it on LA. Even though they signed him to a 4yr x $2.7m contract a few years ago he still steadily lost ice time as they improved and was their #6 dman last year before they ditched him in the offseason.

Listened to the Friedman segment, and it sounds like the Leafs were talking about retention to get both Tanev and Zadorov, and they never really talked about just Zadorov. But they had no interest in the Flames price to eat salary and it was never close. They are still interested in Tanev though, so the interest in Zadorov seems to be secondary/throw in type of thing.

He also said he can't get any info out of Toronto though. Other teams told him they think Tanev would resign in Toronto, and the Leafs don't like Walker.

And that was always my main hesitation on Zadorov. On top of not needing a 3rd pair D, spending all of your remaining cap space on one is absolutely mindblowingly dumb. And of course the cost to retain was never gonna be worth it either. Since he's not that good.

Hard to figure why the offense isn't producing like last year. Seems that it comes down mostly to the offense from the defense completely drying up for some reason. Plus the 4th line being extra useless offensively.
