He for sure sees Robertson and Domi as, at the very best, equivalents to Kampf, yeah.
It's sad/funny tho.
The one game Matthews missed, the Knies-Domi-Mitch line had an immediate impact.
He knows he shouldn't split the Bert-Tavares-Nylander line. He knows the Matthews-Mitch line isn't working.
and for the first time here has a full 9 forwards with legit top-6 skillsets to play with.
It just seems so obvious to at least just try putting Mitch with Domi, and Matthews with 2 of Knies/Jarnkrok/Robertson.
But that would mean very little ice time for the Kampf line. Which I am legit afraid is the only reason Keefe won't do it. Even though the Kampf line has been one of the worst in hockey this year, regardless of wingers.
It’s funny, I’ve been assuming the reason he won’t put Marner & Matthews on seperate lines without also breaking up the Bert-Tavares-Nylander line is that he’s terrified to put Mitch on what could he perceived as the “third line”.
But you’re probably right that the real reason is that it would mean not enough ice-time for Keefe’s boy David Kampf.
So goddamn annoying. It seems like we’re destined to always have to put up with a godawful coach’s pet getting inordinate amounts of ice-time.

Sammy is at .863 now. That is the worst save percentage of any goalie with > 500 FA since 2007.
2nd worst is Manny Legace .868 in 2014.
It’s also Torontos 4th goalie in the bottom 7, joining Cujo (4th 2008-09), Raycroft (6th 2007-08) and Toskala (7th 2009-10no
this market breaks guys.
Agree. It's actually a pretty low-pressure situation. He's replacing garbage, the team will still make the playoff even if he struggles. Expectations are low.Not really unheard of for 21 year old goalies to come up outta nowhere and get hot on the way to a cup, so not really sure why we can't simply see what the hell we've got until Woll's back.
I honestly don't see much downside at all personally.
