There fourth lines were big and played a decent amount...so there third lines could be scoring ones. But Robertson is just too much of the same and he does give the puck away quite a bit.....he hasn't been blown up yet, but it always seems like it's inevitable.

I think a vet defensive minded but offensively capable is an ideal 3C. If he can be used to get that...then so be it.

What do people think of a Coutoure come the deadline
 
It's about 2m more than many of us hoped for a few months ago but it is what it is. He earned it, although I'd have preferred if he was below Pastrnak. Though maybe he will be in the end, cap inflation-adjusted. But it won't be by much. I thought 10.5 could get maybe get it done but I guess not.

Now when Marner outperforms Willy next year Mitch is gonna demand 12.5-13.
 
I think if he was willing to sign for $10 they would have signed him.

at the same time signing on the high end after the best half season of his career kinda sucks.
 
I don't love the 8 year thing either tbh. 5-6 years is probably best for a guy turning 28 at the beginning of his contract. But that bit is fine, whatever. Frustrated about the aav mostly. Brutal timing for him to take his game to another level.

Now he can't suddenly start sucking because if he does and Mitch is clearly the outperformer, Paul and gang are not gonna accept a penny less than 13.
 
A guy like Aho just signed for 9.75. Willy is better offensively but that's a center right there and a damn good one. It sucks. I get that they have to do it but these guys are gonna keep milking every penny they can out of the Leafs. Too bad.

At this point it's just the players that squeeze just a little more than the Aho's and Pastrnak's, yeah.
 
Willy, considering the team flops in the playoffs every year, could you and the other top guys take just a tiny bit less like other team's stars do, to add a little extra talent under the cap?
