No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Gregor's PK numbers are pretty good. Only Matthews give up less xG/CA among Leafs forwards. Not sure how you can be a good PK and not know how to play hockey 5 on 5 though.

I like Robertson a lot...

because of his style of skating, I did see in the past (before the benching) that he did seem to lose the puck often and mishandle passes that lead to the play dying.

However last game, it would happen a few times, but he was dogged in still getting involved... getting it back etc. and he has a great shot.

It is dumb, but this is what I believe Keefe was talking about.

The crazy part is his impact has been very similar to Knies and they get polar opposite opportunities.

what is the reason Knies is a 1st liner and Robertson is a health scratch. Knies is 6'3?
100%. I think Keefe trusts the big bodies more and likes the physical play Knies brings.

But then you get his obsession with guys like Kampf and Gregor, so there's really no explaining it.

Knies and Robertson should be equals in his eyes right now in terms of giving them opportunity. Okay to favor/prefer one over the other, but to scratch one for multiple games??

pretty much. It's obviously not offensive prowess.

But Knies leans on guys on the forecheck, he'll engage physically, he can win 1 on 1 physical battles and come out with the puck. The Leafs don't have a lot of that overall and so what he does well probably has taken on greater value for Keefe than it should.

Not really. It shouldn't be viewed as a competition between Knies and Robertson. Each can have a spot here.

The question is why McMann and Gregor are playing instead of him. I can understand wanting to give Holmberg a look, but rotate multiple players, don't just scratch Robertson over and over. So dumb.

Nah I get the timmins thing he was pretty well unplayable those last few games and their d has been solid since getting healthy.

I wonder if they plan to salvage Timmins, or are hoping that his preseason showcase holds some trade value?

Yeah, that's definitely the culture. It's like Jacques Lemaire invented the perfect way to win hockey games and now the job is simply to emulate that regardless of what roster you're given.
