No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Keefe: chooses to match a guy who was the worst defensive forward despite softball matchups on the worst team in the league the past few years up against Connor mcdavid

Keefe: “WHO CAN I TRUST”?

He also stuck this guy on his top line in a game where he shuffled his lines.

This is nuts.

And for the 4 haters who we haven’t banished and who still post here, I’m not laying this season’s dud year just on Noah Gregor, but actively choosing to have him on the ice against the league’s top stars is crazy.

Gregor won't be in the NHL next year. It's so silly to use him at all, let alone this much.
Bourne yesterday said he "Loved:" Gregor as a player. Yeesh,

Keefe is a good coach, but its becoming clear his time is done here for a couple reasons.

1. He's clearly frustrated with this team and feels they are not doing what he's asking them to do. I'm not sure he's "lost the room", but his voice is no longer effective with these players, which is typically the big red flag that a coach is done.
2. Past experience with this team is impacting his decision making too much. He shouldn't be making deployment/stylists decisions based on loses to Columbus/Montreal 4-5 years ago. For example, deployment decisions shouldn't be impacted by sloppy play and ill timed turnovers from young players that are long gone (Galchenyuk, Sandin etc.). Similarly his situational play style shouldn't be impacted by past blown leads. At this point his decision making is clouded by the past.

Then there is obviously still the general questions of his coaching quality, e.g. getting out coached in the playoffs every year.

I think this team just needs a fresh start. Its too hard to shakeup the linuep in the cap world. The coach is the one to go.

He did some cool, innovative things offensively when he first joined the Leafs, coaching with swagger and honestly a lot of cockiness. But yeah, he has gradually turned into scared old Mike Babcock by the end. It's fine. He no longer trusts his horses so for that reason he simply has to go because they're "stuck" with them. They're going nowhere. I think with Sheldon, most of his downfall has been mental and it has caused him to coach like a scared little bitch. Years of failure can do that.

Fuck you Marner, you're full of shit.

Winger Mitch Marner said the team must ignore the outside noise and stay the course as they wait for winning results to once again follow.

"It's because we're a great hockey team and we got to ignore whatever anyone else says,

Marner said. "We know we're a great hockey team. We show it every night. These last four games that we've had leads we've played some awesome hockey, some great hockey.”

Marner really struggles with interviews. He puts so much heat on himself with them. And the "We don't listen to you guys" act is so unbelievable he needs to stop. He doesn't act like a guy from Toronto area and playing 8 years with the Leafs.
