No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Using Net Rating to make best possible lineups:

Adjust for Probable Lineups:

TOR OUT: Robertson -2, Timmins +10, Giordano +1 (+9)
TOR IN: Kampf -10, Edmundson -5, Lyubushkin -7 (-22)

Total Adjustment: 113 - 31 = 82

(Potential additional -12 adjustment down to 70 if Gregor or Reaves plays instead of Holmberg.)

FLA OUT: none
FLA OUT: none

Total Adjustment: 107 - 0 = 107

well Kampf is a lock no matter what. and I can't see him sitting Dewar either. So somebody's gotta come out, even after you take out Reaves and Gregor.

Why is Nephew out? I must have missed something

I love Dougie, but placing his 3 years of work as a Leaf against the 8 years of annihilation by Matthews is totally stupid.

I also don't know how Willy isn't on both of those lists right now.

Cujo's 4 years here are pretty massively overrated as well imo. Potvin's 6 years are better than Cujo's 4 imo.

In Potvin's 6 seasons here he finished 2nd, 8th, 9th, 8th, 11th, and 15th in SV%. Cujo finished 12th, 4th, 8th, 18th.

As for Keon/Dougie/Auston for top spot....Keon maybe has an argument still if you're not making 1967 the cut off. He was the Patrice Bergeron of his era and a complete whore to play against even if the counting stat greatness wasn't there. But the 8 seasons he had post 1967 in Toronto weren't close to Auston's first 8 here. Dougie vs Auston is a wash out imo.

My list:

1) Auston
2) Borje
3) Mats
4) Sittler
5) Gilmour
6) Keon
7) Marner
8) Clark
9) Vaive
10) Potvin

With Willy, Rielly, Kaberle, Kessel, McCabe, Turnbull, Cujo, Palmateer, Tavares on the honourable mention list.

Dougie and Sundin/Cujo presided over the two most fun periods of modern Leafs hockey for us. Our two most successful runs (pathetic, not even a finals).

Sundin has a legit claim. The man led us through thick and thin and was Tavares-level consistency while setting a bunch of Leaf records. He deserves to be top 5 on any list for the foreseeable future. Cujo and Dougie get sentimental votes, and Dougie gets a spot, but not top 5.

Nylander has to be in that top 10. It's a tough call with who to remove, but Willy definitely earns a spot.

What has Willy done to be ahead of Vaive or even Kessel though? Both 3x all stars in Toronto to Willy's 2x. Both had 3-4 year runs in Toronto as elite point producing wingers. Willy very likely passes both at some point in the next few years, but I don't think Willy's last 3 seasons is better than Vaive's 22-24 yr old run, or Kessel's 24-26.
