No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

on a serious note, when McDavid does re-sign with the Oilers, I wonder how high he will push it. Sid played for a relative bargain. Will Connor go for the max? think he kinda has to?

Small & XL sold out.

We are totally going to try so hard to gift him a roster spot.
At least we didn't take scraps from the Sharks or Ducks.

one of those fungible physical 4th liners. good enough to be the 12/13th guy for florida all the way through the finals. he can also take a faceoff which gives him a tiny bit more use.

but remember with all our moves - there's only capspace for one forward slot on the team. it's $1.2m in space but that still means it's only one player whether it's $1.2 or $0.8 salary. That spot is Robertson's spot if he re-signs. Only if Robertson decides not to sign is there a spot for an Alex Nylander or a Cowan or a Minten or a Lorentz or a Steeves.

do we have enough cap space to carry extra skaters this year?

yeah right now we're at 12 forwards and 7 dmen, with $1.275333 in capspace for a 13th forward.

of course, this year would be the first year ever that we might actually get a benefit to keeping no extra players, because we don't have any LTIR guys finally and can actually accrue deadline capsapce during the year.

last time they signed deals......

Drai:

Total ELC: 191gms, 137pts, .72ppg (pf: 13gms, 16pts, 1.23ppg)

Signed for $8.5m x 8 in 2017 (11.3%)

Mitch

Total ELC: 241gms, 224pts, .93ppg (pf: 20gms, 17pts, .85ppg)

Signed for $10.9m x 6 in 2019 (13.4%)

Obviously Mitch deserved more at the time.

going into their contract years this time:

21-22

Drai (26): 80gms, 110pts (pf: 16gms, 32pts)
Marner (24): 72gms, 97pts (pf: 7gms, 8pts)

22-23

Drai (27): 80gms, 128pts (pf: 12gms, 18pts)
Marner (25): 80gms, 99pts (pf: 11gms, 14pts)

23-24

Drai (28): 81gms, 106pts (pf: 25gms, 31pts)
Marner (26): 69gms, 85pts (pf: 7gms, 3pts)

3yr Total

Drai: 241gms, 344pts, 1.43ppg (53gms, 81pts, 1.53ppg)
Marner: 221gms, 281pts, 1.27ppg (25gms, 25pts, 1.00ppg)

Obviously mitch deserves significantly less than Drai this time, even if Mitch comes out and has a career year.
