Mitch was a 21yr old who just scored 94pts and the cap had gone up an average of 5% for the previous 5yrs. Cap would have been $110m+ right now without covid.

Matthews 15.0%
Panarin 13.9%

Marner doesn't deserver Matthews/Mackinnon/Draisaitl/McDavid money. He'd have to have a Hart/Art Ross seasons to get that.

He's also not taking less than Nylander, and probably wants more than his last contract. Anywhere from 13.5-14% is good bet at the number. On a $92.5 million cap that is that is $12.5-13 mill. Bet they want $13.

If you think comparables and what Mitch actually “deserves” is going to have any impact on what he demands…well that’s just adorable.
 
last year iirc due to the cap crunch they could only roster 12 forwards and 7 D out of camp, and they had to trade Lafferty even to squeeze that many.

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Nylander
Domi - Minten - Jarnkrok
Gregor - Kampf - Reaves

Robertson and Holmberg were waiver eligible so they were sent down. McMann was injured to start the year. I think timmins was injured to start which opened up some cap room so Holmberg was recalled, then McMann recalled, minten was dropped, and then robertson eventually recalled again. They may have gone with 13 F and 6 D for a while i don't remember.

This year they're not waiving Robertson Holmberg McMann. They just re-signed McMann and Dewar.

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Domi - Tavares - Nylander
McMann- Holmberg - Robertson
Dewar - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Reaves

If they don't re-sign Robertson then there's another spot, but otherwise we'd have to ditch a Holmberg/dewar/kampf/Jarnkrok/Reaves to fit in Lorentz.
