No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

they were terrible after McCabe's return but were getting right back on track....and then mccabe got injured again.

7gms after McCabe's Return up to xmas:

McCabe: 39.4%
Tanev: 46.8%

6gms after xmas and before McCabe's second injury:

McCabe: 56.7%
Tanev: 55.4%

and i don't think there was much qoc difference in those skeds.

Injury impact halfway thru the year:

note that the Avs' injuries likely include Landeskog there, who i'm not sure should actually count.

With Benoit --> Without Benoit

McCabe: 39.0% --> 55.5%
Tanev: 27.4% -----> 57.3%
Rielly: 42.5% -----> 52.5%
OEL: 36.0% -------> 50.4%
Timmins: 42.3% --> 59.8%
Myers: 34.1% -----> 53.9%

and this isn't because they're playing some kind of super tough usage when with Benoit.

Benoit is ass.

If you can't move the puck, you're not a good NHL defender. You might be able to get carried on the right pairing to decent results, or on a team that plays a system that doesn't expose the shit out of you, but that's about it.

PP last two years:
wCORE4: 242:36 mins, 9.65 GF/60, 10.39 xGF/60
w/oCore 4: 117:49, 3.56 GF/60, 5.96 xGF/60

w/o Auston: 44:07, 17.67 GF/60, 10.59 xGF/60
w/o Marner: 48:00, 5 GF/60, 7.22 xGF/60
w/o Tavares: 36:34, 13.12 GF/60, 6.84 xGF/60
w/o Willy: 2:25, 0 GF/60, 3.91 xGF/60

Willy/Tavares: 6:12, 0 GF/60, 9.84 xGF/60
Auston/Mitch: 8:31, 0 GF/60, 9.47 xGF/60
Marner/Tavares 1:10, 0 GF/60, 7.73 xGF/60
Auston/Willy: 9:37, 6.24 GF/60, 6.36 xGF/60
Marner/Willy: 3:52, 0 GF/60, 5.94 xGF/60
Auston/Tavares 1:42, 0 GF/60 0 xGF/60

Auston alone: 4:31, 3.24 GF/60, 10.59 xGF/60
Marner alone: 3:51, 31.17 GF/60 8.63 xGF/60
Tavares alone: 7:49, 0 GF/60, 7.03 xGF/60
Willy alone: 23:06, 0 GF/60, 4.64 xGF/60

They should pretty clearly split up PP1. And the two best options appear to be Marner/Willy/JT on one unit, and Matthews on another. or Willy/JT and Marner/Matthews. The first option being slightly better, and even out performing the Core4.

The other thing is keeping WIlly on for the entire PP with PP2 has had a negative effect on PP2.
