Have to say, tough to take Holmberg's number seriously since he's been shackled to the worst players on the team every game.

Having those losers locked in is killing any legitimate evaluation of Holmberg's play.

Yep.

I mean, c’mon. The Islanders literally did better in the playoffs without him. And went farther in the playoffs multiple times than the Tavares Leafs have still ever gone seven years into his tenure here.

You have to be delusional to argue that signing is anything other than an unqualified failure.
I think losing Tavres could have cost Islanders a cup.

It makes me so angry, but there's no amount of posting that will ever get these idiots to understand.

I can't imagine any other team doing this with one of their top young players, dressing an almost 40 year old useless enforcer to play 7 minutes a game instead of him. No wonder he wanted a trade.

What the fuck are they thinking with Robbie and Lilly. Like what in the actual fuck.

It’s Pacioretty we’ll lose Robertson for, not Reaves.

As much as some buried their heads in the sand about that likely outcome when we were arguing about whether signing him was a good idea or not.

Pacioretty might be realgud tho. If you're afraid to sign good players because they may replace another younger player despite icing a goon who can't play hockey, then maybe the problem wasn't signing the good player.

Atlantic Update at around the ~10gm mark

the "good" teams

FLA: #9pts%, #8xgf% 5v5, #10xgf% All, #12sh%, #16sv%
TBL: #10pts%, #12xgf% 5v5, #9xgf% All, #3sh%, #11sv%
TOR: #16pts%, #13xgf% 5v5, #13xgf% All, #21sh%, #14sv%
BOS: #25pts%, #25xgf% 5v5, #24xgf% All, #25sh%, #17sv%

Neither FLA or TOR doing as well as they'd like to be, but not too far off.

TBL has to be pretty happy with where they're at. Not sure that roster can do much better than that.

BOS may be in legit trouble. If it wasn't for an unlikely offensive explosion from their journeyman 4th line they'd look even worse. All of the fluky high scorers from last year (like zacha, coyle) are off that kind of pace, and new addition Lindholm isn't seeing any kind of career resurgence yet as some kind of top center or even 2nd line C.

the "bad" teams

OTT: #15pts%, #14xgf% 5v5, #21xgf% All, #5sh%, #23sv%
BUF: #22pts%, #19xgf% 5v5, #12xgf% All, #14sh%, #24sv%
DET: #19pts%, #30xgf% 5v5, #28xgf% All, #19sh%, #5sv%
MTL: #23pts%, #31xgf% 5v5, #32xgf% All, #15sh%, #28sv%

OTT looks decent. Shooting percentage will come down but save percentage should probably improve. They look like they might be a legit bubble team now so if boston doesn't shape up quick there could be a new playoffs team in the division.

BUF looks not-awful, but not great either, and I'm not sure they can expect that goaltending to improve much. Probably still on the outside looking in.

DET looks pretty terrible, outside from their journeyman goaltending tandem giving them near elite goaltending so far (Lyon 5gms .940, Talbot 5gms .913). Even with that kind of goaltending they're struggling to stay afloat and i doubt that goaltending keeps up.

MTL is no bueno.
