Excellent.

No interest whatsoever in a dude who ran screaming from this market and instead decided to play out his career for a bad team in a non-hockey market.

He’s got his Cup and now just wants to quietly play out his career cashing paycheques with no pressure or expectations. Which is fine, but not someone we should want on this team or pay a second king’s ransom to re-acquire.

This phenomena is still a pretty uniquely Canadian hockey player thing. It's deeply weird to me. NBA players don't turn down playing for the Lakers, the Knicks (when they're good), Boston, etc. Euro footy players turn down big clubs for other big clubs, not to go play for Aston Villa.

It's only Canadian hockey players who want to go their entire careers not ever being recognized in public and getting as close to zero attention and fame as possible from being a professional athlete.

Now do Foligno

We’ll see what happens today, but Tree has been openly trying to get a center all year and lots of good centers have been traded and he couldn’t get any of them.

The one that gets me though is that Petterssen and Walman were traded and he wasn’t in on that.

• Toronto. The Maple Leafs aren’t sure they want to go where St. Louis wishes for Brayden Schenn. Possible they pivot back to Scott Laughton. They are also considering defensive help and may have to move money out to make it all work.
