No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

And with them together we just don’t have a 3rd line. But if you split them up you have 3 1st lines.

Plus Marner is the only winger on the team that could play with a DomiHolmberg center and make it work both offensively and defensively.

That's exactly it. There's so many combos that could potentially work if you split them up. Very few combos that can work if you keep them together.

defense is looking prettay prettay good.

special teams look good but unlucky.

5v5 offense should really be better, even if they're playing a defensive system.

3rd lines starting to creep back up to respectability, but now the 4th line is dropping off.

but hopefully this trend continues so that reaves is the one that gets the boot when matthews is back.

gonna be interesting to see if Hakanpaa boots out Timmins or Benoit. Benoit hasn't been good enough but then again he's a lefty and Hak and Timmins are righties.

McMann replaced Patches after the injury last night, and to his credit the line did well with him on it.

But it's always funny to me that Robertson is never the guy that gets pushed up.

So safe bet the 3rd line is Robertson-Holmberg-Dewar next game. Then we'll see what happens when Matthews comes back.

Here's how the Preseason Net Rating projections compare to the current season Net Rating paces:

D-corps is crushing the projections so far.

I imagine Stolarz would be crushing them too but we don't have net ratings for goalies available.

Tavares in Year 7 basically crushing it still doing his typical PPG thing while flirting with a 40 goal pace.

So that solves their roster problem and they can activate Matthews from IR.

Hopefully someone else gets hurt so they don't have to waive Reaves/Myers/Benning to activate Hakanpaa.

They are currently $2 mill over the cap and in LTIR.

If they just waived Reaves/Myers/Benning (two guys who don't play, and one guy who dresses but doesn't play hockey) they could move Jarnkrok to IR would be $500k under the cap and accruing cap space every day.

Yup. No reason to be using ltir at this point.

Good news is that patches won't save them from making at least some kind of decision with all of matthews and hakanpaa and dewar back this week at some point.

Of course it'll probably be giving away robertson for free.

Obviously it'll be Benning and hopefully they trade him instead of wasting 100K cap by sending him down.

Best 5 on 5 points per 60 on the team by a decent amount this year! With an unsustainably low on-ice s% too! On a team that struggles with 5 on 5 offense. He'll be a decent loss!

Yeah, it’s a very very tough blow.

In addition to being so wicked awesome in nerd stats, which is something I put just so much weight into, this is also a player in his prime with an unmatched record for durability in recent years.

So him of all people being out long-term with an injury must be an extremely unexpected, blind-side blow to the organization. Who could have ever foreseen such a thing happening. Who?!!!
