OT: American Politics

we're kinda going in a disturbing direction with this total questioning of every scientific topic from football players, mma hosts, podcasters, etc.

i guess twitter being such a cesspool is only going to make it worse.
It's called Dunning-Kruger. The dumber they are, the more they think they know.

i just discovered that there is a group of people who think the overexposure to UV rays causing skin cancer is all a giant conspiracy from big sunscreen and i just want off this planet now.

Uh oh may have found a conspiracy theory i have some time for.

Oooo about that sunscreen thing.. I have a cousin who was all in on that conspiracy theory for several years, spent much of his time on beaches and never wore sunscreen (he used a homemade beef tallow based sunscreen instead, and by all accounts he got burnt to shit every time he went on vacation.. it did nothing).

Anyway he JUST came down with melanoma. Could be completely unrelated to his actions, but I found it funny (he'll be fine). We are all wondering whether he'll change his mind or not now on sunscreen since his precious beef tallow didn't protect him.. Taking bets.

And the funny thing is sunlight does have a lot of benefits too, but like anything else it's all about moderation. But that's boring. What gets clicks is the extreme "sun 24/7 is healthy and will cure all diseases" stuff and not the "sun is good, but too much of it can be bad."

there is no place for nuance on the internet sir

2 things:

- getting burnt is obviously no bueno but being tanned has to be more protective than being pale as shit.
- we slather ourselves with so many chemicals all our life in soaps and creams and cosmetics that can't be good for us

Just for information how was his detected? Just visually?

I try to monitor for weird spots.

Big Pharma investments in rendering plants can only be a good thing.

Chicken schmaltz for genital warts? See if they go for it. (They might anyway, just for curiosity’s sake.)
