I mean, he should have.

Throw every caveat in the book out there—Trump is almost as old, he’s in worse shape mentally & physically and that even a weekend-at-Bernie’d corpse of Joe Biden would be an infinitely better choice than Trump—it’s all 100% true.

But still. I don’t think we should lose sight of the fact that it’s bugfuck fuckin’ nuts that on day 1 of a four year term for the most consequential job on the face of the planet, Biden will be more than 82 years old.

I’m at the point where I’ve seen my grandparents, their friends, family friends & plenty of acquaintances age through that age group. And it’s a rare individual that didn’t experience a precipitous (and oftentimes very sudden) decline of both their physical and mental faculties during those years. And an even rarer individual that was still capable of so much as living independently & caring for themselves past 85 or so.

And funny enough, I think all of the old folks I can personally think of that made it past 85 still sharp as a tack mentally and capable physically were women.

The US really should put age limits on high office going forward to ensure this never happens again. Maybe make the rule that you have to be under 70 years of age by inauguration day, or you’re ineligible to serve. Enough of the necrocracy.

B) he probably had the greatest 4 years of any president in my lifetime
 
Most of the usual suggestions we heard ppl talking about for replacing Biden were included in polls before the primary and polled pretty badly IIRC. Feel like a lot of the “dirt” they tried to dig up on him as a scandal has run out of oxygen too now too.
 
So that video of those huge black fences in front of SCOTUS that was going around was apparently old but there are quite a few people saying there are regular bicycle height fences for crowd control put up. FWIW.
