TLDW: Home insurance market in Florida broke in '02 but there was an existing public insurer that was cheaper and better than the private options that didn't want to take on the risk inherent in insuring home in Florida, so people liked that and switched to it. Fast forward 20 years and DeSantis didn't like that people could get affordable home insurance from a public entity because obvious communism and broke it again, now there's a home insurance crisis in Florida again.

Made some massive law changes as a gift to those insurers and screw over his citizens.

But all the conservatives will blame it on Bidinflation.
