p.s. Henlein is a pretty prominent conservative voice though pretty anti trump and convinced that trump has destroyed his party. I've posted a bunch of his tweets now because he keeps popping up on my For You feed but in general he seems legit in his beliefs.

Just to expand on this briefly for anyone who has never dealt with google advertising before:

Ad sense is google's system for matching up advertisers with content on their platform (both website, and video). The content creators get paid by google based on a bunch of internal google metrics related to the genre of the content (things like travel, electronics reviewers, etc get quite a lot per ad view, anything that isn't directly monetizable gets far less per view), how many views the content receives, etc. So in no way can a 3rd party just put money directly into a creators ad sense account.

Now, an advertiser can choose which channels they advertise on, and content creators have the ability to choose ad frequency and types of ads shown so there is some ability of a Russian owned entity to choose to be seen on Timcast or whatever, but the rates that they pay are fixed by google according to google's internal classifications on what genre the content is. Where content creators have full control over ad rates is in their paid placements within the content itself. So if a Russian controlled entity was throwing Tim 10K an episode for Tim to do a 30 second ad read for their product/service, that has nothing to do with Ad Sense.

It's a dogshit reading of Crimean history as well, and to be super clear Russia /= the USSR however hard the moscovites of today insist otherwise. Crimea had it's own autonomous government within the USSR from the 20's until after the war. After the war Crimea was only "Russian" in any sense for 9 years before it was given to Ukraine because Kruschev was trying to bind the Ukie ruling class within the soviet structure to him. It was a necessary political move at the time.
