If there's one thing about Trump it's that he's very crafty and knows his audience. If you notice, he is talking cannabis on platforms like podcasts and social media, where young people are the audience, who are generally overwhelmingly pro cannabis. I don't think he'll mention it during a debate, for example, where the audience is typically much older. I have had concerns that he is stealing some of the young vote and something like this could add to it. A GOP candidate that is pro cannabis makes him look like the "cool" guy and may scrape him some extra votes from a demographic that is typically overwhelmingly liberal.
