Yeah, this is probably putting it a little better than I was trying to. If everyone still hates his guts at the end, not sure that’s ultimately a win imo

At the end of the day it's a popularity contest with the lines pre drawn at ~51/46. You need to really fuck up for those lines to shift significantly in post debate "who won" polls. They're different constituencies listening for different things. The 5% in the middle probably aren't watching, but if they are, stick to meat and potato middle class stuff. They don't want to hear about Trump being a threat to democracy, or abortion, etc. If they cared about that they were already engaged. They want to hear about middle class jobs, the price of food, gas, etc.
