OT: American Politics

they did! the last month was all policy! detailed policy on every issue!

home ownership! taxes! immigration! health care! energy policy! reams of nerdy shit!

and your feeds didn't even let you know! they didn't care!
I'm the last guy who relies on social feeds. I barely use it, other than to trade funny prank videos with my buddies.

I freely admit, I'm not watching CNN several hours a day, and don't feed on Twitter updates all day like most of you do, but I do tune in to the level of what I'd expect to be a normal amount for the average person, and I was not seeing much substance from Harris at any point in time. I did catch her interviews, and if that was her substance, with the benefit of preparation, then she was a pathetic excuse for a candidate, and fully deserving of her primary flameout and giftwrapped election collapse.

I don't know where you get your news from - but wherever it was, they didn't let you know that the last month Kamala was all policy and Trump was all yolo lmao.

that's what I meant to say....don't think of them as dumb and unpersuadable...try to speak in the slogans and memes they prefer
Treating everyone like they're educated college level has been their downfall for awhile now. Gotta dumb it down. Which I thought Walz was gonna thrive at!

I think it would be a mistake if the Dems take away from this is that they just didnt sell policy well enough, or voters are dumb.

Trump won/Kamal lost the swing voters on policy.

Well that’s what they need to figure out. Trump spoke to the people better than the Dems.

And it’s not that they don’t have people that do (Bernie) they just intentionally relegate them to the sideline.

The Dems are now seen as the corporate elitist party, and that’s going to lose them elections if they don’t change.

Trump policy was already well cemented (has been for mostly 9 years). he could then do presto things like driving trucks and explaining why the McFlurry machine broke down again

These are the things that got him his cult following! Not his slogans!

Going back to a graph I posted earlier, in every 1st world election this year, the incumbent side lost. And most of them by more than Kamala. Not a perfect candidate, but she ran a good campaign and lost because (a) people have no idea what inflation is or how it works, (b) covid was a crazy time, and may have permantly wrecked some people's brains, and most importantly, (c) no penis.

The fact that a lot of people voted out the team that did the best job in the world in solving the inflation problem, after it's already been fixed, because of inflation, are fucking morons. Full stop. I don't know how we can fix the education system or the right wing media lie-o-sphere problem in 2 or 4 years. This problem may be unsolvable.

The reality is that if she went on Rogan, she might have picked up 10 votes tops.

The real problem is that too many people have no idea how the government works. And are more than willing to vote against their own best interests.

I still agree regarding not doing Rogan. She would have had to pre prep on every piece of insanity that might have come out of Joe's mouth. Moon landing, Alex Jones, kitty litter boxes in public schools, etc.

But a broader problem is this:

She did the only one that wouldn't have been a ridiculous shit show for her to do.

The podcasts are part of the far right echo chamber in 2024.

I honestly think that they should have been appearing on lifestyle type youtube channels like the dog walking one Walz did. The reach on those things is surprisingly massive and it nets you a way more diverse group of eyes and ears than podcasts imo.

did your graph show what happens you try running a beefy male?

I'd think that lengthy, prepared opportunities during solo interviews would be the time to really drill down into policies and let people know what you're about. Instead, she dodged every chance she got. If I didn't catch the substance on a random clip from a random rally, that's on her.

That’s a huge problem. The medium itself caters to the hard right. What could she possibly say that would move the needle an inch?
