OT: American Politics

Young males are the biggest audience of podcasts and tbh I'm not sure how much interest they'd have in a left slanted podcast. This isn't a new phenomenon either. Long ago when he was relevant, the Stern show was right leaning and they did exuded masculinity and talked about racy subjects that captured the same demographic that shows like the Rogan show capture today.

Talking about being accepting of trannies and whatever else a lib podcast would discuss just won't hit the same for that demo.
 
In the end, if you can't fucking bullshit your way for more than 5 minutes, your ceiling as a politician is policy wonk with a nice paycheque

She didn’t do great thinking on her feet in quite a few media interviews…I think she’s plenty intelligent and very competent to makes complex decisions etc, but anytime she pivots away from a question to pre-made talking points. Everyone notices it, in a way we’re all programmed to let Trump slide, cause he rarely answers anything substantively anyway.

these podcasts wouldn't be about accepting....it would be about airing grievances you have about the other side

they're going to bust your union, raise your taxes (unless you're a millionaire), take away your healthcare, erode your social security,

basically demonize them, like the right does to the left

Fuck no….old Rogan used to be great at listening to his guests, now he often tries to move them into topics he believes he’s well versed in so he can appear smarter.

I’m not saying he’d have called Kamala a c*nt or anything…..but he’d abso-fucking-lately have asked her gotcha questions, and off the wall shit to make her look bad.

That would have been great….and I think she could have done it for an hour. If it started to turn bad though, 3 hours would have been a disaster.

Think about how long it took before she did her first long sit down interview at all in this campaign and how big a deal was made of it. And that was with perfectly fair knowledge journalists.

I agree that it is a big problem how right wing media is more mainstream than ever! The left just doesn't really have anyone in media right now that speaks to young people. But young men always drifted towards "locker room talk" radio shows and that type of content is basically the entire Republican platform these days. So it was a good move by them, no doubt.

You’ve clearly not watched much Rogan during the Covid era….the way he’d treat anti-vax conspiracy folks versus doctors/virologists was night and day.





I def don’t disagree she’d suck at it….given his agenda and how seemingly poor she is answering complex questions on the fly in interviews, I think he’d have eaten her up.

Mayor Pete was tailor made for it, if actual differences in policy & governing was to what people wanted to learn about.

I watched him extensively during the covid era. He was one of the few voices that wasn't bootlicking.

And let's not forget, there was a time not so long ago, that the right was doing the censoring and offended by the locker room talk. They topsy turvied that shit and we are slowly seeing the results of that.

This is what it’s all about…..and I don’t even want to say “dum dums” so much as people who just don’t care to spent their time obsessing about politics.

Plenty of people who just work too much, aren’t online all day, don’t read the NYT, WSJ or WaPo….plenty of very smart capable folks who simply need to be reached & energized to vote.

No messaging spoke to the masses & stuck to their ribs enough to motivate them to get out and vote.

….and like you say, Trump annihilates on that front.


Dems win on turnout…..and we failed to get the turnout we have in the past. Simple as that.

I was saying that to my woke friends.....we used to make fun of the right for being offended by comedians, radio hosts and rock n roll bands
