honestly while I have big problems with the 'protests', I don't think this is the solution either. we're just moving from one extreme ('let them do what they want') to another extreme ('cut off your school's funding').

I prefer the extreme ground. This shit should be zero tolerance. Turning college campuses into a haven for hate speech and student intimidation? No, this is the sort of thing that emboldens these sick scoundrels into doing more, and then you eventually get your Amsterdam, or your Israel-France soccer mob. This stuff needs to be stamped out as soon as it starts, and fuck the current administration for letting it get to this point.

I agree that the actual hate speech and calls for violence and mass exterminations should not be tolerated. but that can, and should, be dealt with under the existing rules and policies. the problem has been universities not enforcing their own rules.

when you start banning political speech that you don't agree with you start moving to a dark place.

Let me stop you right there. There’s no but. If they’re not enforcing their own rules, then something needs to be done about it. And this is not political speech. It’s calls for violence and extermination.

Idk, in a sense I think the extreme idiots in that situation eventually move the every day person on campus to denounce these hooligans.Look at the fraternity that decided to defend the flag. It forces the comfortable and passive to make a stand for what's right which is good. Only exception is if there is physical bodily damage being done/threatened and property damage as well. Then yeah, fuck em up.

Shake your first and yell into the sky as much as you want as long as you're not harming others.

Slippery slope to silence speech, which we've seen so clearly.

Let the hate speech and calls for violence continue so that regular folk can eventually mobilize against it? No, I don’t think so. Call a spade a spade and prevent it from continuing further and poisoning the minds of our youth. And just imagine being a Jewish kid and having to walk through these people just to get to class every day.

Letting government determine what is "hate speech" and allowed or not is a dangerous path is my opinion.

Yeah, I feel for kids having to put up with that crap. But as long as it doesn't endanger them then it should be allowed. If it endangers them, release the dogs for all I care.
