OT: American Politics

Watching this weirdo Russian great power chauvinism die a painful death is going to be wonderful.

Nothing about them is a great power. Over rated military, dogshit economy, with a Muscovy culture at it's core that barely radiates a few hundred km beyond it's epicentre. It's one defining feature of power has been an incredible willingness to devalue the lives of it's people and throw them into the wood chipper whenever the central authority has deemed it necessary.

Obama, is that you?

And Dems can kiss the blue wall goodbye next decade

in the 2030 census. Florida and Texas are projected to gain four or more congressional seats, while North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee could each gain a seat. Meanwhile, reliably blue states like California could lose as many as five; New York might lose three. Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin could also see declines.

All told, nearly four in ten Americans could hail from the South by the next census, according to a recent Brennan Center analysis. That not only means the path to a House majority runs through the South—it also means the party’s reliance on the “Blue Wall” will no longer be viable in future presidential elections.

I think it's not this at all, but pretty transparently playing up to fascists to advance his own political aspirations.

I’m not sure what he’s trying to do personally, tbh but if he fails but pushes the Dem to have a simplified brand message, I’ll be cool with it.

They're clearly dangerous, just not in the way they try to project, not in the way we classically expect them to be dangerous. What they've gotten really, really good at is assymmetry and attacking the weak points of our institutions with a combo of political support/bribes, social media cultural information warfare, etc. The Americans refused to get dark money out of their politics, Russia has exploited it. The entire western world has refused to take social media regulation seriously, Russia has exploited it.

But they're not a military, economic, or cultural superpower in the way their little "great powers" theory likes to portray. They're cold Mexico.

If the Dems don't reimagine themselves in a hurry, America is a 1 party state and none of this stuff matters.
