I guess I just find it hard to imagine keeping the fact that you've won the biggest race in the history of the world "hush hush" knowing that there are dozens of other companies likely on the verge of completing their trials. All in hopes to possibly impact the American election.
Can you imagine sitting on your announcement until 6 days after the election and getting scooped by someone else?

Why would Pfizer need to get to market first on an announcement for a vaccine that is months away from being available? I don’t see how the few extra days would impact their business prospects, no more than it did Moderna by coming after Pfizer by a few days.

Or wait for it, it was a concerted effort. A reward from Trump? Their reward will be billions regardless of President. Most CEO's Trump thinks that he has a "great relationship with" can't stand the guy and realize they don't need him.

People have been trying to oust him for 4 years and it's all of a sudden inconceivable that they slow roll the announcement? Please, they could have easily said it 2 weeks earlier as everything remained on track and the timeline did not change. This was the cherry on top, not that I blame them.

I don't think the vaccine announcement would have made any difference. Everyone knew the vaccine was coming. Trumpers already believed COVID was being overblown, and Biden voters who didn't like Trump's COVID response were never voting for Trump.
Plus with mail in voting carrying the day, it was too late.

Far more benefit to slow rolling than announcing prior. Far more. The announcement would not change the delivery date, they could have done it anytime in the past month.

Except you're educated. It's not unreasonable to think Trump lost many voters because of COVID and that they may have changed their mind with the vaccine announcement.
People here are thinking as never-Trumpers so in your minds there's no difference or benefit. Now think as someone on the fence, and there were plenty, that tipped Biden because of COVID.

I don't think there were enough fence sitter to matter. This was the biggest turnout in total numbers ever, and that likely is not a sign of a material number of apathetic fence sitters that didn't make up their mind until November 3.
