OT: American Politics

I don't care how much right wing media you consume, there is no excuse for anybody to call the Democrats "extremists" in this political environment. There was just an actual, literal coup attempt from the far right, for fuck sakes. I don't care how smart you think you are either, it's fucking embarrasing. People really need to call him out on this nonsense.

Teslas biggest challenge are production + getting to scale on EV before ford and Chrysler.

not adding dealerships. They can’t produce enough as it is. More dealerships makes that more difficult.

You don’t spend 44 billion of your own money to do something that your publicly traded co could do for millions.

but, sure, poordumbme for not listening to @reallyactivist

somehow i don't think Elon Musk wrote a cheque for $44B out of his personal bank account.

It's not like he can't sell Twitter later on and get his money back.

Anyway, it's just one possible explanation. Stroking his ego and getting access to a massive amount of data are obviously part of this as well.

I don’t even know what his argument boils down to. What does he think mr free speech is going to do - block republicans from the platform unless they kowtow to his policy needs?

and even if that is the plan - he is subject to legislative processes which are slow and take forever.

He can’t take $ out of Tesla to finance this (though he may be arrogant enough to think he can).

this is a combo of his own $ + debt secured by his Tesla holdings.

and selling Twitter isn’t like selling a house in Toronto. His first offer was accepted because of a limited market.

He's not gonna block them, but you don't think Trump used this platform to get Republicans to do things?

And sure, it's not easy to sell Twitter but it can be done. It's not like he is throwing $44B out the window, never to be seen again. He's buying an asset that has a lot of value. Unless he runs it into the ground, i suppose...

He is going to influence public opinion on the most important issue of our time. It should be easier to have car dealerships in some states. It’s brilliant really.

Oh ya, that’s the other thing. Tesla car purchases are all online / automated — even if you buy in store.
