OT: American Politics

Not only that, but Trump not being on Twitter didn't really diminish his influence over his party and his base. He's still in control. I've seen ads for candidates in the mid-terms calling themselves "Trump Republicans". So Twitter or no Twitter, Trump still calls the shots.

The impact is on what cable news covers. Those guys don't care about real news, they want to cover outrage. Trump not sending a new outrageous tweet a day, made CNN cover MTG and Lauren Boeberts of the world more.

I'm not sure if this is good or bad. More people see how craziness is now a core part of US Congress; but at the same time, more fundraising is going to these crazy representatives as they get covered by news media.

The minute that news became profit driven rather than a public service that didn't need to make its own money for a network, news as we know it was doomed. At that point, the only thing that was allowed to matter was ratings and money. And the easiest and surest way to get both was to focus on the outrage machine instead of issues requiring people to actually think.

yeah it's always best to just let republicans feel confident to start saying what they actually believe and want to do.

also would be best for Trump to go hard for potus again and emasculate DeSantis in the primary.
