OT: American Politics

You have to access that education though. Those that ignore their kids won't improve the illiteracy rate with PBS.

Sure they will......again, more education for young children is unquestionably going to increase their knowledge, intellect and literacy. That's not even mildly debatable.

More education > Less education.

I never understood why Republicans now-a-days think you have to be pro-life to be Republican. It is stupid pigeon-holing and a turnoff to moderate conservatives.

Well yeah, in a utopian society. My point is there is a ton of education available today, especially with the internet, and people still ignore it. You can have all the availability in the world but it won't change ignorance to education.

I think it speaks to the absurd logic of those that define themselves by the party they support........more people get their talking points from their party, than the other way around I'm afraid.

I also believe that most registered Republicans, like most Americans, are actually agnostic, without realizing it.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Okay, you remember back a couple pages when you said how difficult it would be for someone who hasn't been trained in your job to walk in and talk to a bunch of school kids?

Saying that you could single-handedly draft a budget that cut expenses in the province is like saying that you could single-handedly pilot the first manned mission to Mars with no training. Let's not even get to trying to cut expenses by 14 billion dollars without touching wages, pensions or benefits which make up 55 percent of every provincial dollar spent.

That was easily the most asinine comment you've made in this thread.

There is a 837483 way tie for first.

In low income homes, where internet or 300 channel television packages aren't the norm.....educational programming like PBS, is a very valuable tool for education. The fact some don't take advantage of the education available to them, isn't reason to strip it from those that do.

So the State Department/White House lied about Libya. Color me surprised. Truth right before a congressional hearing on the matter. Purely coincidental.

Facebook and Twitter are more popular than educational internet sites.
Tabloids are more popular than publications with much higher standards.
That they "ignore" something positive or healthy is no reason to cut it off.

Fair point. Hey I grew up on PBS crap too, my kids did also. I donated for a while, then stopped, then started again when my youngest was born. I have no issue with PBS, as a parent though I wouldn't lament it's loss. The quality shows would get picked up by someone.

It's the result of the extreme right, who claim to be huge followers of religion, taking over that party. Most churches are pro-life, so the GOP who claim they're following God's every wish tow their church's pro-life stance.
... and then they pay for their mistress' abortion quietly...

Higly presumtious. My main concerns are economics and geopolitics. I dont care nor support the reps social issues. Nor watch ANY of their supporting media.

obama is on the opposite end of what i believe in both of those issues and thus the rhetoric.

Well the mistress must clearly be a democrat silly.

No thoughts on the Benghazi coverup? It's very Bushesque yet people are staying quiet about it?

Yeah it doesn't smell very good, Habsy....what do you think happened? Are they simply covering up their inability to decipher security briefings or is there more to this?

What do I think happened? A little less than two months before election? Use your imagination. This was a Bush move all the way and I guarantee it will be pounded by Romney next debate. Remember Obama and his "transparency" promises? Yeah that.
