OT: American Politics

lol @ cons going off the rails re the clinton emails and calling her a liar... and now calling for petraeus as sec of Defense... you know, the guy who ultimately admitted to (and was charged with) mishandling classified information and who lied to investigators about it before eventually coming clean.

Dan Rather posted this on social media. Is Rather American enough for you habsy? Or because you live and work.on Florida only you can speak of the American mind?

"Bullies are often thin-skinned, quick to overreact when challenged, and undone when people are no longer afraid to speak truth to their face. Great presidents are almost always the opposite in all those categories.

Reflecting on Donald Trump’s complete overreaction to a statement made at the end of a performance of Broadway’s Hamilton: An American Musical, I couldn’t help but think – doesn’t this man have more important things to worry about? Hasn’t the theater long been a stage for political art? And isn’t this a man who broke so many norms as a candidate, insulted so many people – individually and as groups – that he now has the nerve to demand an apology when he never gave one himself?

I know there are many who say that this incident shouldn’t be blown out of proportion. Yes, when compared to cabinet posts or paying out $25 million in a fraud case against “Trump University,” a Tweet maybe might not seem that important. But being president is to have every word you utter scrutinized. And these words are intimidating and unfitting of the office of the presidency. But more importantly, they show a real weakness of vanity and small-mindedness that our enemies abroad will likely look to exploit. I can also imagine that Trump’s political foes at home are noticing – once again – how easily he can be rattled.

I imagine this is not the last we will see of these kinds of incidents."

MEK was designated a terrorist organization by the US until it was de-listed in 2012. After the overthrow of its patron, Saddam Hussein, in 2003, the group became mostly irrelevant and no figure of repute in Iranian politics would go anywhere near it after the evidence of the major abuses it perpetrated was laid bare over the last few years.

John Bolton also has a long history of support for MEK and is a frequent guest at its rallies. In March 2015, as the talks surrounding the Iran Nuclear Deal were reaching a sensitive stage, he called for a military attack on Iran and “vigorous American support” for MEK “aimed at regime change in Tehran”. Last summer, Gingrich spoke at MEK’s rally in Paris alongside Turki bin Faisal, the former head of Saudi intelligence. Gingrich went as far as to solemnly bow down to MEK’s leader, Maryam Rajavi, calling her by her favored title, “President-elect”. When running for the Republican party presidential nomination in 2012, Gingrich openly called for “replacing the leadership of Iran”, saying that this could be accomplished within a year.

I've never in my life seen anyone as thin-skinned as Trump. It's ridiculous. The guy is still going on about Rosie O'Donnel, and she didn't even say much about him.

So what you're saying is that you hang out with a lot of NDP voters.

Absolutely. But believing in conspiracies is not a left/right thing. You see it on both sides. Alex Jones has made a career out of it.

but it's pointless to discuss these things with people who actually believe in such conspiracies, as crazy people don't actually tell you that they're hearing things or that they feel they're going crazy..because they have no clue that their thinking/feelings are not rational.

Um, all of 'em, any of 'em that, um, have, have been in front of me over all these years.

No numbnuts. Which polls specifically were inaccurate. Not which Huffington post writer claimed that Trump had no chance because "something something polls"..which set of data was out beyond its stated margin for error?

Nothing is real, except for getting high in the jungle off of ayahuasca.

Dude was way more fun when he was jerking D Wade or the city of Miami off.

Trump now wants equal time on SNL.

He should have pulled a Berlusconi and purchased a few networks before running for office.
