I'm glad that Elon has fallen off, that he basically got laughed out, and since that all happened, has kind of stayed quiet about it too. I'd be happy to not have to see Mike Myers play him on SNL ever again, despite how good of a job he did with it.

The influence is that if the media reports something that Trump doesn't like he will threaten to sue the network and have its reporters and executives "investigated".
You want to know why Jake Tapper wrote a book about Biden's cognitive decline instead of the hundreds of things he could have written about Trump? Because writing a book critical of Trump could get him fired or worse. That's where we're at now.
