OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Maybe it's just as simple as you're comparing cases spread out across a country to the hospitalization rate in one major epicenter.

Seems as good as you could hope for for us though. I'll take it.

Living in the US for the past couple years has really opened my eyes to this. In Canada people go to a doctor/hospital when they need to. In the US it seems people go every time they have a cold. It's bizarre.

Then of course there's people with no insurance... they never go no matter how sick they get.

Of course this is anecdotal.
 
Medical bankruptcy is a bitch.

And then you have a insidious virus that sneaks up on people... hesitant to pull the trigger and incur medical expenses in case of a false alarm. Yet...

It’s the pointless uncertainty that seems so destructive.
 
I’m not familiar with using a hospital in the US. If you were to go, would you just be out of pocket the whole amount of any procedure done in regards to covid 19?

It's kind of amazing watching these regimes that literally sit on a throne of lies lose their fucking minds when the only trick they seem to have any ability to pull off with regularity, doesn't work on a virus.

The Chinese are fucking Orwellian, but at least they generally live in this reality with the rest of us. Russians, TrumpCo, etc simply don't inhabit the same planet we do and have no clue what to do in the face of a problem they can't gaslight their populace into making go away.

That our case number didn't explode after chewing through so many tests so quickly is the best news we've received recently.

Johns Hopkins has us at 1355 right now in Ontario. We have ~2000 ICU beds in the province and according to a tweet last night, we're running at about 3% of total infections requiring ICU care. Even taking into account chronic underreporting, we're holding up well for now.

We're doing great. For the most part the city is empty and people are taking it seriously here. We'll see what happens when the weather improves. The key to this is to not fucking let up on the social distancing.

I don't think Tory or Ford would be too shy about putting the clamps down even tighter if we started to slide backwards socially on this one.
