What I mean is that I was hoping that immunity was powerful enough to make this variant look 50+% more mild than the others. If the effect is mainly a milder variant that doesn't help us long-term. I was unreasonably optimistic that immunity can be that powerful if this data holds. Hopefully it doesn't.

Granted, it's still causing loads of death and hospitalizations in the UK haven't changed much from prior waves. So it isn't a picnic obviously.
