OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

How am I supposed to follow the data when the government decides to no longer pay for PCRs or track cases? What are they using as the new measure? Just assume you have COVID? Like really? How about propping up the healthcare system and provide rapid tests to the masses instead of sweeping it under the rug?
Even propping up the system won’t help if there is a shortage of tests available for governments to buy.

I'm seriously considering not going to work on Tuesday. Half the guys I work with have young kids in school. At least 2 others unvaxxed. Grrr...not sure what to do. :(

More people I know have this now.

One family has been struggling. Their young son has fevers.

One of my best friends tested positive this week. He was fine. He gained three pounds actually since people kept bringing him food. Isolation in a room in a small apartment was tough on him.

Another family, who attended a few gathering last week have started having symptoms. They say it's a cold.

Memo to all, no one has a cold these days. You have symptoms, you likely have COVID.

Sorry to hear about your friends.

Agreed on how annoying it is to hear people say "I have [insert omicron symptom] but I think it's just a cold". Guys, c'mon, use your brains.

My kids both got a cold (first in two years) in early December and both tested negative. Same for multiple friends. So yeah, lots of colds still going around.

But if they get sick again in the next couple of weeks, I’m assuming it’s the omicron.

There's definitely been a cold going around. Parents, sister, niece, nephew have all had it recently, confirmed by multiple negative rapid/pcr tests.

I will say, for a guy who wanted to get married and have kids a long time ago, the only silver lining of not being there yet is that I think this is an absolute horrible time in the world's history to be a kid (the social, educational, and mental impacts of this shit on a child is code red disaster level stuff for the future), and also a terrible time to be a parent (other than of infants who aren't out there yet, and who get much more parent time than otherwise thanks to lockdowns and move to WFH).

Do you deliver anything other than bad news, Presty?
I mean we're two years into the pandemic and covid is now 3-4 times more infectious than it was in the beginning. If there was good news I'd be happy to deliver it!

But getting a couple of colds is hardly bad news! Those are easy.

I need a new episode of John Krasinski's boring only good news online show.

Not to watch, because it's horrible, but just to be there for my comfort of knowing there is some good news around somewhere.
