OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Anecdotes: still useless. But this follows what the data is saying so let's give presto some confirmation bias. Let's take this variant sparing the lungs as a blessing and not expect that to continue with the next one. Ty.

Give zeke credit.

Schmomicron.

The data says that hospitals are collapsing all over America. It also says that people are still infectious after 5 days and ending quarantine without a rapid test is crazy. Which data should folks be following!!!

Puerto Rico showing a 50% risk reduction max if vaxxed for hospitalizations on omi. They don't have much prior infection but these will still be confounded by reinfections on the unvaxxed.

decoupleicron

NYC hospitalizations have exceeded last winters peak unfortunately. Correlation with cases has gotten more bearish, but it's still there.

In fact there's talk that they may need to shift ICU doctors to the gen wards in many hospitals around north america. Far better than the opposite but they're still under tremendous strain!

Length of stay at hospitals don't appear to be very different in this wave either as per the data in London. May be a different kind of illness but it hasn't reduced the time spent in hospitals. Woulda been nice but oh well

How am I supposed to follow the data when the government decides to no longer pay for PCRs or track cases? What are they using as the new measure? Just assume you have COVID? Like really? How about propping up the healthcare system and provide rapid tests to the masses instead of sweeping it under the rug?

We're on our own. The plan is for you and everyone else to get infected. After that it's survival of the fittest.

Wonder if people who get long covid symptoms like brain fog/cognitive issues are going to have a little trouble with disability claims if they can never get tested.

Yeah I've seen that pointed out by some and it's a legit concern. That's why it's generally recommended to get your pcr if you can even if you already know you're positive to cover your ass. Added insurance.

We still have absolutely no data on long covid prevalence on omicron (obviously since it's new). But with all of these infections even if the percentage is smaller, it's gonna add up to a lotttt of people.
