OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Beef tongue is pretty great too.

Not that it grosses me out, but I never even would have thought about eating it until one of my friends married a Panamanian girl and she did some up for us.
If done right, there is no better cut of meat for me.

I'm okay with some China blame as long as you keep the eye on the prize so to speak. We've got a much bigger, more immediate issue right now in flattening this curve until we can get a vaccine.

On the menu at the Preston household today: Lengua en salsa (beef tongue), rice and homemade fries. Thoughts, LOF?

That sounds great, actually. I've had tongue several times before. I think the three popular animal choices are fine, and safe.

Duck tastes like a shitty version of chicken, lamb a lackluster version of beef. I haven't tried the rest, and don't plan to.

Your taste buds need alignment. Not that you have to like any of that stuff, but no way does duck taste like chicken, it's more a red meat than anything.

And lamb is lamb; any comparison to beef seems odd.

I’ve tried all of those except quail & moose. Agreed that they’re all delicious.

There are few things better than a nice cut of lamb cooked to perfection. And if you like chicken or beef, I don’t see what’s not to like about duck, rabbit, bison, elk or venison.

I’ve tried gator too and it wasn’t bad, though hard to properly judge since it was a pretty tiny amount we shared among the table at a restaurant in Toronto.

I never seem to like the "exotic" meats. I tried crocodile in Cambodia, was kind of meh. I've had stuff like bison/elk/venison before, and never really liked them either. At least not any better than a regular lamb or steak. Even duck I find overrated, has so much fat that you barely get any meat from it. Although a piece with a nice crispy skin on it is quite tasty. Thankfully just about everyone has at least some of the basics on the menu.

Duck is very close to chicken. It tastes like chicken gone wrong, like you got a bad one or something.

Lamb is meaty. It's nothing like chicken, but again more like some fucked up type of undercooked beef.

Not a fan.

But it's backwards. Duck and lamb have much much stronger tastes than chicken and beef.

That's the other thing. I like meat to be really, really lean. I send back corned beef sandwiches when it's full of fat. I tell them to try to make it as close to zero fat as they possibly can. So, yeah, a lot of these other meats are very fatty, and I don't even eat beef fatty, always going for the filet over anything else.

It's not that I'm repulsed by the notion of them. I've tried some and think they're gross.

To some extent, after not having tried rabbit my whole life, I could never take a bite of it now without associating it to a cute bunny hopping around somewhere. I think I'd probably feel the same about all animals if my parents had kept a vegan household while I was growing up, but I knew chicken and beef and fish as food before I knew them as animals, so there's a natural desensitization.

I really just don't need to have more now. If koala is as delicious as it is adorable, I'm still not interested.
Who the heck prepared these dishes you've tried? I'd recommend trying again with a competent cook/Chef.

Tbh, chicken beef and pork are in fact the best meats. The best combo of flavour and texture. Not to strong or bland tasting, not too tough.

Though of course we have made them that way. They didnt used to be much different than the other stuff.
