OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Liver is ok just ok.

I like chicken hearts and gizzards... That's basically it for me though.

I remember someone giving me a bit of liver when I was maybe 5 or 6 years old, and it immediately made me have to violently vomit. I still remember the taste of it, it was that impactful. Shiver at the thought of it whenever it's mentioned after all these years.

Dude, you're missing out.

Lamb, duck, quail, bison (and beefalo), elk, venison, moose, rabbit, goat....all delicious

I'm interested in trying gator at some point as well.
Watch out with gator. Can be very tough and unappetizing if cooked incorrectly.

Please. I could never survive as a vegan. I do steak, chicken, and fish. That's it. I don't even touch lamb, duck, and other less common animals.

Like I said in my other post, these are enough for me. I don't need to know what a kangaroo's ear or hamster's nose taste like.
Lamb on a spit with a lemon base topped with my Tzatziki sauce? I think you'd change your mind.

Most people also overcook their liver; which is why most people hate it. I'm indifferent to it.

I've eaten chicken hearts in a Japanese yakatori. Not the best visual.
Oh they do that shit right. I always go for the hearts on yakitori. Usually the cheapest option too. I can almost afford it after my stonk gainz.

Yeah, if you’re starving and haven’t eaten anything resembling protein for a week+, there are a whole lot of things that’d start looking very appetizing to even the pickiest of eaters in the first world.

Of course, if you're in survival mode, you do what you must. Though I'm quite certain I'd choose death. That said, I don't think all of the bat soup-lovers over there are eating it because they don't have access to anything better.

Out of sight out of mind.

Yep. Though I'd argue one societal benefit of our approach is that it would be way easier to keep larger sources of the cruelty (factory chicken, as pictured for example) from breeding fun new pathogens than it would be in a dispersed chain of live animal markets with multiple species, etc.

Now the US does a pretty piss poor job (just spray it with ammonia to disinfect when you're done processing boys and all is well), but Canada and the EU are pretty spot on (again, ignoring the visibly ridiculous conditions, as pictured)

I’ve tried all of those except quail & moose. Agreed that they’re all delicious.

There are few things better than a nice cut of lamb cooked to perfection. And if you like chicken or beef, I don’t see what’s not to like about duck, rabbit, bison, elk or venison.

I’ve tried gator too and it wasn’t bad, though hard to properly judge since it was a pretty tiny amount we shared among the table at a restaurant in Toronto.

On the menu at the Preston household today: Lengua en salsa (beef tongue), rice and homemade fries. Thoughts, LOF?

Where I went, all they had were skewers of chicken parts. Could not avoid. It was all tasty, but looking at these little heart shaped bits of meat makes an impression. That's why people with stock gainz prefer chicken tenders.

If you want to understand chinese food regulations you should really read up on the history.

First off, they had a huge population that was starving and needed to eat so they let them eat and sell any goddamn animal they could find, and it worked.

Second, apparently the modern consumers of the weirder animals they eat like pangolins aren't even the poor people but are actually the rich people looking for exotic foods with apparently special properties to eat.

It's not that I'm repulsed by the notion of them. I've tried some and think they're gross.

Duck tastes like a shitty version of chicken, lamb a lackluster version of beef. I haven't tried the rest, and don't plan to.

To some extent, after not having tried rabbit my whole life, I could never take a bite of it now without associating it to a cute bunny hopping around somewhere. I think I'd probably feel the same about all animals if my parents had kept a vegan household while I was growing up, but I knew chicken and beef and fish as food before I knew them as animals, so there's a natural desensitization.

I really just don't need to have more now. If koala is as delicious as it is adorable, I'm still not interested.

Beef tongue is pretty great too.

Not that it grosses me out, but I never even would have thought about eating it until one of my friends married a Panamanian girl and she did some up for us.

Beef tongue is delish. There was a place called People's Eatery where they made a deli sammi with it. Wrapped in a pretzel bun and mustard.

Mama taught me the right way to cook it and it is actually delicious. Like not even just ok. Delicious.
