OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

This thread is insanity. Science is amazing and the nerds will win, even if they're losing right now.

Highly recommended thread on the most promising thing I've read in a long time.

I think it’s just a cold / flu. negative rapid tests. Basically a bad cold but with chills, weird body aches (knees are killing me) and a headache, which I don’t typically get with colds

This was me then they got worse. How long have you had symptoms

Seems like there's been quite a few reports lately of weird colds with negative tests. Wonder if the tests are not super-accurate, or if it's just an annoying non-covid virus going around.
We have all been bubbled for almost 2 years... would make sense to me that when you do get sick it would be worse than normal.

11 days of negative tests while having a cold.

eastern update: I am back at work and feeling basically myself. About six days of feeling slightly off, with abnormal fatigue being the main symptom. Three negative tests over five days... 🤷‍♂️

Ms. Wayward has not really worked this week but reports being on the mend. Also testing all negative. Complaining of some weird aches today that are new.

My paralegal's fever is back up to 107 and she is back in hospital for the second time this week 😥

And one of my colleagues reported that she vomited seven times yesterday. She did not go home because, 'we are short staffed'. I gave her shit but I am not the boss.

I should add that pukey has also been consistently testing negative.

But pukey also disobeyed the public health rules when she was a symptomatic close contact. I know this because she sent a photo of herself unmasked at a bar to my boss... when you become symptomatic as a close contact, you cannot go to the fucking bars, needless to say.

I'm officially on #TeamWeCan'tLiveWithThisThingLongTerm

Hopefully the work from this thread plays out because it would quite literally change everything and only then can we expected an acceptable level of endemicity. Elimination is impossible and there would still be circulation in this case.. But we'd have a way better chance of being more in "control" of the virus. Which, quite frankly, is what we need for life to become somewhat normal again. Doubt it comes anytime soon so in the meantime, hang on!

paralegal is now in the covid wing in the hospital (as opposed to a storage closet). she has been advised that they suspect she has been infected with a new variant, "B4". paging Dr. @Preston...
