OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

With the caveat that I’m living in the downtown of Canada’s biggest city and the experience of other people may be different, I’d guess those pictures of empty shelves were just part of the social media campaign to make this “trucker protest” seem like it had a legitimate raison d’être.

Probably old pics from earlier in the pandemic, or pics taken when particular stores were re-stocking shelves.

I definitely have not had any experience at all with seeing store shelves empty so my reality is not matching up with some of my Twitter timeline.
anecdotally, I have been noticing more empty shelves recently.

but I also have been able to buy everything on my grocery list for quite some time.

in fact, the sesame oil saga took place many months ago (the sesame oil saga involves me visiting at least four different grocers in search of sesame oil, before applying a bit of casual racism to deduce where it was most likely to be stocked)

This is the group that we'll never get on board. But it's a very very very small, but vocal minority. Don't be fooled by the narrative out there that there is this huge growing movement of antivaxxers.
Had an interesting convo with a lady at work today. She said she keeps hearing anti vax stuff and she is hearing it so often she is starting to believe it. The fact that she was aware of this was a good thing. She is double vaxxed but was starting to turn. I did talk her off the ledge but who knows where that goes if nobody points her back to science.

Wife went to the grocery store last night. Everything was there.

Side note: I still have yeast left from the great yeast shortage of 2020.

this fucking guy
if you read the comments sounds like the pictures are from 2020

even if they were real - why the fuck is the premier trying to push people to panic buy everything in stores - does he not remember the fake TP shortage?

Truckers have had protests about many different things with no major problems but this one has been high jacked by the anti vax, anti any regulation extremist. I’m surprised at the amount of support this protest has gained.

Unfortunately their route to parliament hill runs less than a block from where I live.

I find sale items go very quickly, be it at Shoppers or No Frills. But I don't have much of an issue finding stuff for myself.
