OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

French food is incredible. No need to get all up tight that someone in europe did food better than your people.

Please.

French food is exactly zero people's favorite food.

Italian food is exactly everybody's favorite food.

That's the one thing I've always sucked at making, ribs. I always **** them up and it's gotten in my head now for years.

How do you usually cook them? I actually don’t have a ton of experience cooking ribs myself, and I’ve only ever done them in a slow-cooker.

I had never even tried cooking ribs until I ended up with a freezer full of different cuts of grass-fed beef a couple years ago because of a friend who’s buddies with a farmer. When I got to the short ribs, I sort of just made it up as I went along and luckily it turned out really well.

Seems to be tough to go too wrong with them if you’re using a slow-cooker and you get the sauce combinations right when it comes to braising them.

I work with 2 people that consider Italian food bland. First time in my life I'd heard that.
As an Italian.. It is bland. I love the food. It's great.. But it's very very simple food and ultimately every dish has some variety of the same two ingredients: tomato and cheese. The food lacks originality and creativity in many ways.

I love it but after a few weeks of it, the richness and fattiness tire me out.

I find Italian more comforting, and also enjoy Japanese and Thai more than French

And just FYI, Greek food is awesome when done right. Unfortunately most Greek restaurants do it fast, not right.

Moussaka mmmmm

Bottom line is all those french cream sauces were genius at covering up rotting gamy meat. The precursor of ketchup.

Slow cooker and sometimes a final seer on the grill

Italian is definitely the ultimate comfort food. It's not very complex or interesting and many dishes are quite bland compared to many cuisines. But my fuck it is comforting.

That may be true of Southern Italian (which informs most North American Italian restaurants) but Northern Italian cuisine doesn't rely on the humble tomato.

yeah I mean how can you live on that stuff? everything is so heavy.

that's the word for Italian food. comforting. It's not the culinary experience that your Indian or French cuisine will give you. but delicious.

I thought I'd be hard pressed to find a place where I enjoyed the food as much as Italy but I found Greece awfully close.
