OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

I know the Moderna booster is basically a half dose, where the Pfizer is simply another full dose. You could also ask for another full Moderna dose I suppose.
My understanding is that Moderna’s half dose is equal to a full dose of Pfizer though seniors received a full dose booster of Moderna.

Pfizer dose is 30mcg, moderna 100, moderna booster 50.

Also wake me up when we get more immune evasive and/or severe variants

Can all of you (who can) stop working while having Covid... it setting a precedent.

Already told my boss that if I get it I'm not working at all.

FWIW, probably because of the mask drop but this wave is devastating my daughters school way harder than BA.1. Like 50% absenteeism, staff and students. Anecdotally lots of very mild cases. No signs of wastewater peak so still a ways to go.

I'm sure this is extremely safe and effective. No data has been shared other than "it's around 100% effective" but we can surely trust these guys!

well, my turn has come. felt a tickle in my throat at work this aft so came home and took a rapid test. came back positive in record time.

good news is Mrs. Wayward's isolation ends tomorrow so we are effectively trading off lol.

I have some fatigue and tiny bit of brain fog but also worked a full day. updates to come...

also, I came very close to making a snarky comment in my email to my colleague thanking me for my diligence masking...
get well soon

day two for me, day eight for Ms. Wayward...

I tossed and turned through the night with congestion. Tickle in my throat has not really escalated beyond that. Congestion mostly cleared while I was walking the poocher this morn. I am working and feel generally pretty okay. No fever but some kinda hot flashes. Currently over 1L into my goal of 5L of liquids for the day... (3L water, .5L gatorade, 1.5L ginger tea + honey + lemon).

Ms. Wayward is back to work but still feels crummy and is congested and fatigued. Yesterday she put herself at about 50% recovery. I'll get my PCR test results within the next two days.

In a hilarious slap in the face of science they insist upon copious fucking hand sanitization at the testing centre but our premier refuses to acknowledge the value in ongoing masking. I could not help myself but comment on this every time I was asked to sanitize my hands. They also made me remove my N95 type mask and replace it with a surgical one. I was also pretty shocked to see most of the staff at the testing centre not in N or KN 95s. Anyhow, the pandemic is over so I dunno what all these shenanigans are...

whoa

you have those?!?!?!??!

it's kinda fucked. NS is now averaging over 1,000 positive PCRs each day. this is highest it has been at any point in the pandemic. however, the availability of PCRs is also close to as low as it has been the entire pandemic. they are still tough to get though - I drove Ms. Wayward for her PCR and they would not test me even though we lived together.

but yeah, I know this is still better than many other provinces. In NL for example, if my friend wanted a covid test the only way they can get one is to pay out of pocket. when I got my PCR they sent me home with a pack of rapid tests...

We did it! We might have our very own Ontario variant! Our sequencing sucks so there was always a chance this wouldn't ever happen but we're seeing a ~25% advantage on an omicron sublineage over BA.2.

Note: the variant itself isn't a big deal and doesn't change anything other than faster growth and makes it easier to get infected... But severity should remain similar. I'm just proud that we finally put ourselves on the map with variant generation.
