OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Honestly that was the first thing out for me. Food cooked by other people. No thank you.

Yeah, it’s not worth the added anxiety of worrying about all the people who’ve handled the food & packaging before it shows up on your doorstep.

Or the added cost, really. The $25-30 you spend on one meal is enough money to feed you for days. And saving money where you can is a pretty good idea right now.

Sucks for the restaurant industry & drivers, since that’s their only source of income at the moment, but what can you do?

not sure that adds up

considering what i see in grocery stores
- so many times i see families out with gets coughing and touching everything

my guess is less people touch the food in a restaurant

both options have works and delivery drivers touching the food
grocery store has a lot of the public touching, handling the food
grocery store means you have to go there and expose yourself to the virus (if you get it delivered it is the same as restaurant delivery)
restaurant has people preparing and cooking the food

- restaurants generally have food safety top of mind - grocery stores less so

so really the difference is would you rather have your food exposed to the public or the cook

unless you are leaving your food outside for three days after getting it delivered it is probably safer to order from a restaurant

Last I looked I think they'd tested more per capita than South Korea in NY. But I'm guessing they have way more co-morbidities too.

where do you grab the testing numbers from?

alberta was claiming they were one of the top testing per capita

Alberta has tested 53,141 people according to their government site which seems pretty damn good considering the population.

Sure, if what you’re eating is straight from the grocery store and you’re immediately eating it after bringing it home while taking zero precautions, that’d be more dangerous than ordering food from a restaurant.

But that’s definitely not what I’m doing.

and ya - alberta at one point claimed they were 4th highest in testing in the world

i was more thinking in general terms - not the FI safety procedure folks

i am guessing you are in the minority ... so far

I bring wipes with me to the grocery store. I wipe everything before and after using in case the person before me has it or I do and am just asymptomatic. Ditto for the debit machine. Wipe the outside of everything I buy and my phone which I tend to pull out while I'm shopping or out. Then thorough handwashing.

Maybe sounds a bit paranoid but that's ok. Still don't have any masks unfortunately.
