Ottawa is still working on 80 yr. olds in targeted neighbourhoods. I haven’t heard a time line for the 70+ and 80+ People in the general pop. From what I do see we still don’t have much vaccine so hopefully much more vaccine will be arriving in the next week. I’m not holding my breath though.

Ontario's getting 528,000 doses this week of Pfizer, Moderna and Oxford
174,000 doses next week
790,000 doses the last week of March

And then April is coming and we're supposed to start getting J&J and more Oxford on top of around 750,000 on avg per week from Moderna + Pfizer.

April is when it really kicks off. This is what Trudeau told us from the beginning and this is what is going to happen. The good news is we'll be ahead of schedule when March ends and Pfizer promised extra doses in Q2 as well.


EDIT: I am still not confident that rollout will be smooth at all. But the supply will be there. More than and quicker than originally promised even.

not sold out....the 3 big vaccine sites are only starting up on March 17th and booking process has not started yet.

Metro Toronto Convention Centre

I was trying the smaller clinics which have been fully booked for a while.

Appointment bookings will be announced in stages, while supply lasts:

  • Born in 1957: Book starting March 10
  • Born in 1958 to 1971: Book in following days, rolling one year at a time
All vaccines approved for use in Canada are safe and effective. Covishield/AstraZeneca is proven to be highly effective in preventing serious illness and death in healthy adults 18 to 64.

Phase 2 (Group A): Starting week of March 15

Group A can book appointments starting the week of March 15.

  • Staff and residents of licensed supportive living (seniors) not included in Phase 1
  • First Nations, Inuit and Métis people aged 50 and older, no matter where they live
  • Albertans aged 65 to 74, no matter where they live:
    • booking dates will open by year of birth, one year at a time, to reduce wait times
    • exact dates will be announced the week of March 15

east coast update - we're on track to have first shots in all arms by end of June if supply is delivered as promised.

and oh man, getting asymptomatic covid tests are now so fucking easy. reminds me, I am going to book my weekly test for tomorrow morn. quite literally can walk in on my way to work and be out of there in <15 mins.

Alberta does have less old people than Ontario, so it's a little easier that way. But yeah, kind of shocking.

Still not entirely sure what the delay ends up between signup date and shot. So like my parents are late 60s so should be able to sign up in about 2 weeks. Hopefully it's like "sign up today, shot tomorrow" and not "sign up today. Your date is April 18"

there is no economic benefit to not getting vaccines out though

dont forget alberta was the best at the start as well

it is only when kenney starting trying to "save the economy" that shit went bad

he had the ventilators, the PPE, the test before anybody else


that said i am still not fully sold he wont fuck this up somehow

I don't hate that plan at all. We should be allowing every medical clinic or pharmacy to administer. The small city I'm living in has 19 medical clinics (including the hospital) and about 30 pharmacies. Why not more than double our capacity to administer the vaccine? Certain vaccines have storage requirements beyond that of a pharmacy, but that's for the provincial government to sort out. They should be handling logistics or how to get doses out. Let these clinics (who already have online booking services) and pharmacies (that tend to be in convenient locations) worry about the details.

yeah the infuriating part of the lack of preparation is that we have all known this would be coming for basically a full fucking year now. what were these bozos doing this whole time?
