OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Plus the delays were like...Who gives a fuck? We were barely getting vaccines at that stage. I understanding that getting them earlier (no matter how little) was ideal but the explanation they gave was that they were in the process of increasing capacity... Well it looks like that was both valid and worth it as they're pumping out the doses now.

So Ontario should be getting over 3 million of those doses in less than 4 weeks.

Yet...we still don't have a COVID booking system.

I'm really hoping for the best, but this seems like its shaping up to be a proper shit show.
 
Honestly all I care about at this point is my parents getting it. They're 70 so I'm thinking maybe in a month at the earliest.
 
So Canada is now expecting around 36.4-million vaccine doses by Canada Day not including Oxford AstraZeneca shipments from the US that are starting in April + J&J shipments that are also starting in April. Likely over 40 million in the end. And I don't think we'll see much more than 30 million in the country vaccinated in the end between those who refuse it + children who are ineligible. So if we don't get everyone who is currently eligible a single dose by June we fucked up real good. So much that it's actually impressive.

yeah the delays were kinda non-issues for me. I just assumed I wasn't getting anything until September-ish, and by then everything would be up and running full tilt.

plus, not like JT can control the delays.

I am now prepared to advance my expected first dose timeline :) and I try to be most cynical about these things so as to avoid disappointment in the future.
 
June 20! Well, if the province is moving the timeline up, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until they mess it up. They have to know this is re-election or not.

Now how do I get my favourite brand?

If he had got the job done Canada wouldn’t be so far behind other developed countries and we wouldn’t have the need to dip into the COVAX supply and that’s just on the vaccine front.

Anyway today is a day to be happy with the approval of one more vaccine. Next step is to get more vaccines to the local public health areas and hope the local health units can upgrade their plans to quickly reflect the prospect of more vaccines arriving.

gotta say I would not have pegged Alta to be the ones to have their vaccination program shit together. but kudos to Kenney if so.
 
Might have to do with demographics too. Ontario has a poop ton of old people. Not sure about Alberta or the specific area your parents are from. They may have just run out of 70+ folks to give it to in that particular area earlier than the rest of the province or other provinces.

Even if Ontario distributed their entire current supply we would not be on 60+ year olds.

he did get testing and PPE up before anyone else

and he knows his own party will kick him out if he fails
