OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

First day since Sunday for the kid without a lowgrade fever. His energy seems good, but still the really bad cough and congestion.

My money is on him having covid tbh. I think he got hit with double viruses over the past week. The fatigue was so so bad for a couple of days there and I don't know of any other reason his fever would return after 3 days without one and seemingly on the road to recovery? And to have the fever continue for 3 days after that? And the symptoms conveniently came 3.5 days after he was at the crowded hospital; which is the average incubation period.

Anyway Mrs. Preston is still negative, feels like crap, but has improved today slightly. She's been battling the original illness that my son had since last Friday-ish. So she didn't catch covid at the hospital but... I feel it's just a countdown for us to catch it from my son; I'm expecting to get hit tomorrow or Friday. If neither of us do then I'll be really confused. I'm still completely symptom free for now.
Did anyone do a PCR or just RAT? So many people not getting positive results with a RAT with Omicron strains Lately

Mrs. Preston has been doing the RATs to check if she caught it at the hospital. I just did one right now for shits, just to check. All negative. So I think that rules out Mrs. Presto catching it at the hospital; and she is instead battling mystery virus #1 right now. We've tried to give my son a RAT in the past but figured it's not worth it since he freaks out and he's been through enough as is; we're gonna find out soon anyway and treatment doesn't really change.

I think if we caught it from him it would have been on Sunday, maybe Monday at the latest (at least one of us would have been infected by then). So that puts us in the "should be symptomatic by tomorrow-Friday" range. And most don't test positive on RATs till at least 5 days post-exposure, sometimes more. So maybe a positive result by Friday-Saturday. We'll know soon I think. Not much is gonna change whether we're hit or not.

I never did get a positive RAT result. Blew my mind. Even at full swing 40+ fevers and fatigue and headaches. Either way, I hope it’s short lived for you all.

Crazy! Yeah I've heard similar, can't really trust them. That's another reason why we're not really keen on testing the kiddo. No sense in torturing him for a result that may not even turn up accurate. Mrs. Presto is already feeling real rough right now so that's the main reason I am a bit concerned. Can't feel good to get hit back to back like that.

The first time was bad presto luck. This one can be blamed on having a child. I asked for it. I don't think many with kids have not been hit yet.

Isn't your child a toddler ---where are they going unmasked!!!!
We don't have to go anywhere for him to catch shit. It's nonstop. And lots of hospital visits for stuff that needed to be treated asap. Hospital waiting rooms = covid risk! And he's great with masks and loves wearing them! But they're not designed for 2 year olds so the fit isn't great.

If he actually caught it last week in the hospital that's a ringing endorsement for my Mrs. Preston's n95 since she came out unscathed. I will post the links and ask the company for commission once I confirm his infection.

So BA.2 was more severe than BA.1 and this one looks fairly significantly more severe than BA.2. It will be dominant soon. Significant immune evasion as well so I wouldn't expect natural immunity to hold up very well especially for those who got hit in Jan/Feb. I think most folks will get hit twice per year it seems on average. The new normal.

Bucellamine on track to get EUA approval in July... covid will be over.

Back to his normal bossy self finally. Except his postviral cough. That has gotten worse. I don't think he slept at all last night. What a rollercoasted this has been. Thanks for asking
Seen a doctor about that? I had something similar about a decade ago and it needed meds to go away.

It has only been about a week and a half, and 5-6 days since his fever returned. So for now I think it's pretty normal to have a lingering cough after a viral infection. If it continues after 2 or 3 weeks I'll get it looked at.

What if every time you got Covid, the Leafs win a playoff round?

Special bonus offer! Get Covid three times before next May and I’ll throw in an extra round — that means a Stanley Cup parade next summer!!!!

*offer cannot be transferred to another FI poster
