OT: Fitness Nerds and Babe

So I'm going strong after 5 months or so. Spent a couple weeks with a PT after switching to a better gym which was super helpful.
My routine looks something like this now:

Pull:
Seated Row
Cable Tricep Extensions
Cable Face Pull
Back Extension
Machine Bicep Curl
Lat Pulldown
EZ Bar Pause Curl

Push:
Machine Bench Press
Machine Shoulder Press
Machine Tricep Dips
Dumbell Incline Fly
Smith Machine Bench Press
Machine Lateral Raise

Legs:
Machine Leg Press
Machine Leg Extensions
Seated Leg Curl
Machine Abduction
Machine Adduction
Standing Calf Press
Perfect Squat Machine/Smith Machine Squat

I feel absolutely destroyed today from Leg Day yesterday, but I'm really starting to notice how much better I feel when I'm not sore from the previous days workout

Still a long ways to go, but it's cool that for once in my life I'm actually fiending to go to the gym and not dreading it.

Creepy Dr Mike Israetel has started doing tier lists of the best exercises & machines with the exercise scientist from Wolf Coaching and they're fucking outstanding if you're looking to figure out what works and what doesn't according to the most recent science.

Both of them have been making a bunch of tier list videos recently and they're fantastic. Their focus is muscle growth and not necessarily 40+ fitness and well being (lol, we're old...) but I've gotten rid of some motions and added others over the last few months to try to get the most bang for my buck/time in the gym and I'm pretty pleased.

If you're wondering how Huberman's journey from serious sounding scientist to right wing grifter is going

The grift will be complete when Stanford cuts ties with him in the next 12-18 months and he claims the woke mob canceled him or some shit.

is he a legit grifter? I’m not surprised but I just found him very opaque more than anything.

I did catch a 30 sec of DR JP interview — it was about how making your bed in the am can be a source of pride and momentum LOL

Not yet, but it would be rare indeed to go from where he was (actual educator at Stanford with an actual lab doing actual science), to where he is (Doesn't teach, lab exists but apparently has 1 doctoral student working at it and no one else....full time influencer/content creator, peddler of other people's questionable/scammy health adjacent products), and not complete the story arc.

Has anyone used ozympic/wegovy here?

I fucked my ankle (high grade ligament tear) and the 30 min dog walk I do a day leaves me in pain. Want to get some weight off while doing physio.

Any 1st hand experience would be appreciated.

I'll say no on full-time grifter for now, but he may be headed down that road. There is still money to be made in this space being a good and honest person, so I remain hopeful. I'm not familiar with a whole lot of his content, but he generally does good work from what I have seen.

As for making your bed in the morning, I think I first heard that one like 10 years ago, the idea being that a few subtle "wins" at the start of the day may help psychologically in getting more accomplished throughout the day. It may be bullshit but still isn't the worst idea for something that only takes a few seconds.

That’s my point. “Make your bed” is an old nugget that has become cliche.

Life hack - tuck your sheets and comforter in at the bottom of the bed so that they're tight between the mattress and the bed, and it'll take three seconds flat in the morning to make your bed.
