OT: MLB Thread

Well win in the next few years yes.

But this is the team that traded Vernon Wells....so I wont worry about year 4+

Calling him a DH in a couple years is a little rough. His defensive numbers are down this year, but from all I can see that's just random noise. As long as he can play a good defensive SS, he has a place in the field. Reyes is the guy who should not be in the field within a year or two, or who should be shifted to an easier position.

But it's definitely a trade meant to win in the next year or two, no arguments there, but that's the way the roster is built. The AL is still very open, so not a bad time to strike.

Gotta give AA credit for at least trying. I doubt they'll get in but you never know.

Should be an exciting finish to the season, everyone will be playing with an extra bounce and step in their games (except for Donaldson, he always plays like that)...

I'm afraid not Jeff.

After taxpayers committed billions to building a new stadium, one would think the Marlins would have respect and stop belittling their fans.

Jeff is naive if he thinks that tax money buys the public any influence when it comes to stadiums and the teams that play in them. As a matter of fact, the more tax money you sink into a stadium or franchise, the more the owners can take you for granted. It gets to a point where the franchise is considered "too big to fail" or, put another way, once you've sunk so much cash into something you want to try and wring something out of it before giving up and walking away with nothing. That's why Glendale city council voted to keep the Coyotes. Not because they want them but because they're stuck with them and with the arena.
