Yup the Jays will have a different look with many departures . But those 2 new nerdy looking execs are smart people who wont get sucked into stupid contracts . Happ , Estrada and money left over is better than Price who cant win in the playoffs and will be one of the worst deals in baseball in 2-3 years.

The Happ signing looks absolutely brilliant. Every Jays fan was dumping on that signing. He got him on a steal of a deal.
Rogers is making so much $ they'll be forced to spend a lot on the Jays this offseason. They need to keep this going. With that pitching staff staying next year they can keep this thing going.

Yeah there weren't too may people disppointed that we didn't sign Price. Classic example of a player not worth the price tag.
They are spending money , they will never get to the stupidity of the Dodgers and others but at the near 150 mil mark no excuse to put a solid team on the field, and money is not an excuse.
Other teams have won titles with less payroll. Our problem is we depleted our prospect pool over the years and lack the position players to offset the pending Jose, EE , and Saunders exits.
But Shapiro is a smart man , look at his ex team he is the mastermind behind that roster.
I am convinced he will pull off a few more Upton type deals , players with some term left and some salary is absorbed and we move a prospect here and there to buy some time .
Votto is a prime target where Cincy has no need for him anymore.
We will not get into any ridiculous bidding wars that end in tears in a few years. Even the Yanks are out that nonsense of paying Ellesbury, McCann , etc and having 60-80 mil of dumb money on your payroll.
The problem with the Price deal is heads you lose , tails you lose. There is no way this isn't a disaster in 2-3 years . Price would have to pitch out of his mind and the Sox pray he opts out if salaries keep going up.
But I see a 14-15 win pitcher by then and no one will top his 120 mil plus left over .
Regardless of how much money the Sox have stupidity is still stupidity .
If Jays lose we won't see Burton for months.

I don't really get bashing our prospects. They're three of the top prospects in hockey. Surely you could find a way to bash the Leafs that makes you look less foolish.
