Yeah, I'm surprised that Canada was able to survive as a country.
Well we did have a referendum the year after...just saying

Thank you Dr Freud.
They did once but even then I used to call them chokers and never had faith in them. This nostalgia that they were a great organization is hilarious. It was only after I divorced them that I realized I was a battered spouse and that my relationship with that team was abusive.
Yanks hand Jays their second loss in a row and retake a 1.5 game lead in the AL East.
I guess Jays fans will now suddenly realize that it's only the middle of August and that there's a lot of baseball left to be played.

Mark Routtenberg, a Montreal businessman and a minority owner from 1990 until 1999, was a dissenting voice during that decline. He said the problem was ownership, not the fans. He argued, unsuccessfully, that the team should borrow money to pay the good players, rather than send them elsewhere, and in turn, fans would go to games. He was overruled.
“I would sit in meetings, and they would talk about how we had the most wins per dollar spent on payroll,” he said. “I would say, ‘What good is that?’ Isn’t the goal to win a World Series?’ ”

"Show me the . . . publicly financed downtown stadium."
You have one in Philly...no?
That's the point. MLB wants the stadiums to be publicly financed because they don't want the team owners to be debt-ridden . . .
You mean they want corporate welfare so the owners can get richer on the backs of the working stiff.
That too. But MLB decides what it wants and requires, not the fans.
