Did he also scold him for the 93-69 record and first playoff appearance in 22 years?

He had a good 2 months in 6 years, nothing to write home about. He gutted the system and went all in and it almost worked. He had pros and cons in his trades, but he left the team with no minor league system and hardly any SP. The biggest thing is their farm system is ranked bottom 5 right now in all of MLB. I don't even think they have 1 top 50 prospect anymore. Could any other GM have done better? Most likely in my opinion, so I don't think it's a huge loss for Toronto. Apparently Shapiro was really pissed how AA gutted the farm and went all in and if it didn't work they'd have to increase payroll quite a bit to fill in the pieces. Which, they will most likely need to add 2 high priced starters this offseason and a BP arm.

They dont have a top 50 pitching prospect but they have a 20 year old and a 22 year old in their major league bullpen who can be converted to starters as well as a 24 year old in the rotation with ace stuff. Thats a pretty good start on a rotation.

I rooted against the Jays all the way. But there is no way to be critical of Alex of what he went out and did in the last six months-the time was right and he made out very well with the late season moves, before that with Donaldson,Martin. Some of the acquisitions will also serve the team well going forward. Being critical of those moves now is classic 20/20 hindsight. What did they want-another 20 years of tedium?
