OT: Movies/TV Shows

I’ve had some havarti with decent heat to it. I guess it depends on where you get it? It’s been years to be honest. Nice little cheese shop on the danforth had some fabulous stuff. Their welsh aged cheddar was delish.
I dont always need heat in my dishes, frankly a creamy havarti and soft Breton finish in my mouth is delightful enough.

Sometimes ALL i taste is Jalepeno, and sometimes it's just barely there as a distraction almost. Im very picky with it.

i made bolognese the other night.

let's have some snobby bolognese takes. go zeke.

I usually go traditional (lots of meat, dairy, just a hint of tomato for some acidity/colour) but this recipe looks interesting.

Well I used to make fun of mangiacakes for putting carrots and celery into the sauce and then I learned those wacky northern Italians actually did just that.

Real bolognese with carrots celery and cream and all that is good of course but it's not the meat sauce I make.

For me the key is the tomato paste to really give it the right thick texture.

It's true tho.

When I was in uni I would mix a box of KD with 1lb+ ground beef and smother that shit with ketchup. Glory days.
My standby when I was a poor student and, later, a poor wage slave trying unsuccessfully to keep up with the cost of living in downtown Vancouver, was breaded chicken cutlets (the mystery meat pressed into a form) with a side of Rice-A-Roni and some plum sauce.

I do not miss it.

A series that only lasted one season despite solid TV ratings as the lead actor "Dean Wormer" :p went to "Hollywood" for the big money:

Filmed mostly in Toronto it was a series that later redone by "Hollywood" in the form of the successful long running TV series "Quincy, M.E." with Oscar Madison :p in the lead role.

Wojeck lasted 2 or 3 seasons and was originally filmed in black and white. It wasn't merely filmed in Toronto but set in Toronto. I'm always taken by what a small, un-cosmopolitan town it was back in those days when I see those episodes.

My bad. There were only like some 20 odd episodes so I mistakenly thought it was only one season. Likely a reason why Vernon left the show I guess (not enough work).

Another TV series that often featured shots of 1980s Toronto (it tried avoiding I think 'major landmarks' of the time to maintain the 'generic North American' city location of the show; I read though they had to "dirty up" some streets with garbage to make it look more "realistic" for the target audience :D):

"It was also the first original, first-run drama series to be aired during a late night time slot on a television network in the United States" (wiki)
